Microsoft Licenses SafeNet VPN Client July 8, 2002 -- Internet security provider SafeNet Inc. (SafeNet.com) announced this week that it has licensed a new version of its SoftRemote VPN software to Microsoft Corporation. The new version of the Safenet VPN client software, says the company, will support the L2TP and IPSec VPN protocols for users of Microsoft Windows 98, Millennium Edition and NT Workstation desktop operating systems. "Microsoft customers see the value in being able to reduce cost through the use of highly secure Virtual Private Networks," says Bill Verthein, product unit manager, Microsoft Corporation. "The Microsoft L2TP/IPSec VPN client built by SafeNet will allow users of Windows 98, Windows Millennium Edition and Windows NT Workstation to take advantage of strong VPN technology."
